Every article or review I read about Bunuel uses the term “provoke”. I can’t disagree entirely, because Bunuel obviously wanted the audience to confront ideas and systems. But that word seems to go hand in hand with the idea that “Bunuel didn’t care about the audience.” That’s certainly not true. To me, saying he was trying to “provoke” is a way of call…
