Upcoming Events!
a poem, a party, and a publication
Things are about to get busy in the B.A.D. Reviews world. Here’s what’s on the horizon.
On December 5th, I will be hosting a gathering at which we will join together to read Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol aloud (from Renée Rodin’s read-aloud adaptation of the novella)! Come enjoy some hot cider and get into the Advent spirit by soaking in Dickens’s beautiful and timeless words. This is a live event in Binghamton, NY, and all are welcome. You may message me for the address.
Then, on Sunday, December 7th, I will be marking the 150th anniversary of the sinking of The Deutschland with a livestream of Gerard Manley Hopkins’s masterwork, “The Wreck of the Deutschland”! You can catch the livestream right here, on Substack (https://open.substack.com/live-stream/80402?utm_source=live-stream-scheduled-upsell) at 4:00 that afternoon. The recitation of the poem lasts approximately 45 minutes, and I highly recommend looking over the text beforehand, as it is a dense and complex work of genius.
Finally, get ready to rock (or read about it)! My first professionally published book is coming in 2026 from Wipf & Stock’s Resource Publications: I Too Once Thought…: problematizing identity and ordering the so-called chaos in Alanis Morissette’s Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. Prepare to look at my favorite album in ways you never knew you could! (I know, this stock image is clearly not Alanis, but just roll with it.)

Will I be able to watch the recitation after the fact? I don’t want to miss it, but time zones are working against me!
