I admit it:  I am an Ethan Hawke fan.  One serious enough to buy his novels.  And read them.  In his first two books, The Hottest State and Ash Wednesday, Hawke was finding his feet in the lit world.  Both books are fine, but nothing great.  Recently he has added to his oeuvre, and the results are more assured, more mature, and more enthralling.
