There have been multiple TV Moby-Dick projects.  It seems that, like Lear, most aging thespians want to tackle Ahab.  The problem with all of these attempts to televise the great (and I do mean great) American novel is that they take a plot-centric approach, presenting the tale of Ishmael and the crew of the Pequod as a straightforward mariner tale.
