Micmacs (defined by my phone as "jiggery-pokery" -- very helpful, thanks) is a French film by Jean Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, Amélie, A Very Long Engagement).  Though most of you will only know him for Amélie, I think Engagement is a superior film, and I know at least one avid fan of Delicatessen.
