Difficult Books (?)

I saw an odd question in a readers group online. “What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?” What’s odd about it is not that most of the answers were silly (Dracula? Dracula is a beach read!), but that I couldn’t quite suss out what they wanted to know. A book can be “difficult” in so many ways. But here’s what I came up with.
