To say Lars von Trier is in a dark period is something of a joke -- at least as much of a joke as you can make about the director of Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, and Breaking the Waves.  His whole life seems to have been a dark period.  But his last two films, Antichrist and Melancholia, are perhaps more forthcoming with his philosophy of depression.  …
